Out of your seat and into the story.
Welcome to A Novel Experience, where we bring the world of classic novels to life. Our immersive adaptations not only entertain, but inspire further exploration of the literature through reading. Over the past three years our popular adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice uncovered the delightful discovery that many of our guests were not only introduced to the popular classic, but also excited about the author and motivated to read her novels! Whether a devoted fan or beginner on the literary journey, all are invited to discover the captivating world novels with us!
Each cycle will feature a noted author and present one, or more, of their novels in adaptations that are performed in an historic setting. Unlike traditional theater, there are no stages, sets, or assigned seats. Our guests are right in the middle of the story, moving or sitting with the characters, and if they come in costume, well... anything can happen. Get ready for a story that’s more “you’re in it" than “you’re just watching it!”

JANE AUSTEN
1795 - 1817
Jane Austen is one of the most famous and beloved writers in the canon of English literature, thought by many to be second only to Shakespeare. As Alfred, Lord Tennyson wrote in 1870: ‘Miss Austen understood the smallness of life to perfection. She was a great artist, equal in her small sphere to Shakespeare…’
Today, more than 200 years after her death, Jane Austen’s six completed novels – Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion – are known and loved around the world. They have been translated into dozens of languages and are regularly adapted for film,TV and theatre. They have spawned sequels, prequels and spin offs, and there are countless festivals, clubs and societies in her honor.
Her name is a byword for wit, social observation and insight into the lives of women in the early 19th century. She is celebrated as a social observer, a moralist, a comic genius, and as a popular and universal writer. It’s all quite an achievement for the younger daughter of a country Rector who completed her formal education at the age of eleven and was never publicly acknowledged as a writer during her lifetime.
